Good.

Glad the police are doing something to teach people not to be inconsiderate to other road users by blinding them with their fog lights.
spot light / fog lights, same thing.
A lot of drivers do not know it is illegal unless visibility is less than 100 metres i think.Time they had a crackdown on it
at least they gave you a warning, gina
It is annoying. The amount of times I've been stuck behind some twonk who insists on having his foglights on when visibility is ok.
At the lights one night, I actually leaned out of my window and informed the driver in front they had their foglights on, they refused to switch them off.
I'm not sure I agree with people being 'done' for it though.
its not points, its a £30 fine i believe
Oh I do AP.

They are breaking the law and being inconsiderate.
Spotlights and fog lights are not the same thing at all.

There is an offence of using fog lights when visibility is not restricted (and I believe that it is normally dealt with by a non-endorseable fixed penalty),

If you refuse the FPN, you will go to Magistrates' Court. If they are truly spotlights, then they should be E-marked as such and this would provide a slam-dunk defence.
I would have thought that spotlights would only be used when on high beam.
what i meant to say was that in this instance i think what the OP is calling "spot lights" are the fog lights.

Gina, do the lights only come on when you activate a seperate switch to the main headlights / sidelights? Do you have a warning light on dash when they are on? were the lights fitted by the manufacturer or were they put on after purchase?

spotlights/foglights at front are not on at the back unless i put the foglights on so having the spotlights on didnt have anything to do witht eh rear fog lights. i had them on as the weather was bad here yesterday and gives me more visability and so far to the ground that they wouldnt glare other road users
Question Author
they were put on by the manufacturer, and i can have them on as they are with no other lights, and once again so low to the ground that they would not glare others
so they are front fog lights?
they may be low to the ground but front fog DO glare. If there was no problem with having them on all the time then they would come on with your main headlights
having them switched on when visability is clear can result in a fine.

if you want to disregard the comments, then do so.
Question Author
i didnt say i wanted to disregard the comments i asked if this had happened to anyone, didnt need a lecture of the rights or wrongs
having them switched on when visability is clear can result in a fine.

Or a crash...
Question Author
as i said before although it wasnt foggy as such, it was misty and very wet

Of course you didnt say you wanted to disrgard comments, but you seemed to be disagreeing that front fogs cause glare to other motorists, so i suggested that you could ignore comments if you wished.

i would expect that quite a number of drivers have had a fine imposed
