Resetting a service light on a mini one

I have a service light which appears when I start my mini (one2007). It is telling me that an MOT is due. How can I switch it off?

I took it to the Mini dealer this morning who wanted to charge me £60 plus VAT. I have a mate who can do it for nothing but can't reset the service message.

Are you sure it's an MOT warning as I've tried to help by googling your question and found no results, except for service light indicators.

I just found out how to do it from the Mini Forum. Really complicated but have managed to do it. Thanks for your help though.

Glad you sorted it budlet. My daughters Golf has an inspection warning flashing as the garage couldnt re-set it. Anoying aint it.
