Ok so I was travelling across europe and my alternator decides to intermittently play up. Managed to get the car from Switzerland to Paris with the alternator working. Then decided to use public transport for the duration I was there and leave the car parked up to hopefully get me home. I pulled off from the Paris and the Battery Light stayed on. I thought as it was a diesel and I had a crossing to catch off I could used very little electric and It would at least get me to my ferry. 2 and a half hours into my journey the car fails. problem is now the cars back home and alternator is fixed and cars fuel pump can't be heard and the car wont start. a few facts:::

The Mechanics in Switzerland and France were rubbish (prob cuz im British)... and I mean rubbish. Put it this way half my car is missing. and I decided to continue my journey on their incompetence.

Ive checked fuses

the alternators on the 1.3cdti's are poo... ive had it repaired 3times now.

I feel stupid running the car on the battery now, but at the time I was limited with options and with knowing what the problem was, I just wanted to get it back home.

Could anyone suggest some ideas of why it want work??? thank you

'Put it this way half my car is missing'
like what ? did it run after the alternator was fixed ? is there power to the pump ? does the car turn over ? etc.etc.

Ive lost some of the trim, and bolts that hold it together, the battery holder is missing. The alternator is now fixed and back in the car, the battery has had a full charge over night. The car turns over but doesn't start. The pump can normally be heard gussing through the car... but not any more... ill check the voltage at the pump today.
