And, most important ...

They have a huge front. So, in the unfortunate event of being his by a car, a 4x4 spreads the impact across a greater body area. So, at a given speed, you will suffer less injury from a 4x4 than from a dangerous, low fronted car.

thats a bit of an open eneded question .

my reason for that comment is simple " why does anyone do anything ? "

Apart from those who need one like farmers for instance. my guess would be that they feel as the 4x4 is a higher vehicle it would be safer for all its passengers.

Another reason could be given that they are very good when weather isnt so kind " for instance like the snow we had lately , when normal 2 wheel drive vehicles suffered badly and travel in many area's became hard " .
But to answer your question with such " wide" answers would be inacurate and misleading . So with that in mind i would state any reasons given by myself would be pure conjecture.

It should be noted that some 4x4 vehicles are compairable with normal family cars regarding the emissions and fuel consumption , and with this in mind some would appear to be a good buy for a family.

Hi, I have answered this Q on a previous site, everyone has a choice to what they own & drive, myself I drive a German car why, Reliability, the 4X4s like myself get some stick! Why, well there are Knob heads it does not matter what you drive, The Majority that drive the 4X4s have not got a clue how wide they are, going forward they are OK, meeting you on a street with cars each side of you then you see how well the can drive them, Myself I think everyone has the choice they either like one & bye one for reasons like Farmers, people that cannot step Down into a car or the likes, then you have people that live up Isolated lanes that are either Grassed up in the middle of the axle & would damage an ordinary car.
