you will need to find a scrappy that will pick it up.

Beware, some will try and charge you a fortune for picking up a car as they know you are stuck with it otherwise.
Get a mate to tow you. Make sure that you put a sign showing tow car's registration on the back of yours. As far as I know your car is then technically a trailer.

can a mechanic friend drive it? arent they insured to drive all cars?
do you not have a free local paper, lots of scrapyards pay you for the car and they collect ?
You cannot get it towed, An untaxed uninsured car has to have all 4 wheels off the public road. ie trailer it.
A mechanic is usually insured for any car BUT the car must still be roadworthy and mot'd. They can use their 'trade plates' if the car is untaxed but the rules on these are strict.
Your best bet is to have the car trailered away, either by a local garage or the scrapyard. The garage will charge, and the scrapyard will take the charge off the value of the car.
I had a car in a similar state a few years back. Someone took it away for a nominal £10. If you are the legal owner make sure the log book is filled in and despatched to the DVLA otherwise if it got dumped at some stage your still the legal owner and liable.
You could list it on Ebay and say the car must be collected, that way you might get more than scrap value, someone gets a useful vehicle and the transport problem is sorted.
I just did this with a car with no mot/tax/insurance and the buyer drove it away. Their risk, not mine.
try this

they will take the car away for free and handle all the paperwork with the DVLA.

thanks all, i wont drive it.

lol to bol1ox, haha its not that bad, it looks fine, its just old and has a radiator issues and needs new brake shoes, and ive got a new one now so its not needed.
i may even sell it...its actually a pretty good car except for the radiator etc, has great pickup as i keep being told, so if someone could be arsed to replace theyd get a fairly good vehicle cheap
my daughter sold hers in this condition about a month ago, a local scrap yard gave her £40 for it and took it away on a breakdown lorry.

Leave the keys in it. Someone is bound to steal it. All we have to do is put a few bits of rubbish in our garden and it's gone.

Many of my answers, here on AB, are based upon simply Googling for information but I've actually been looking into a similar situation today for a friend. She's a lady 'of mature years' - 76 actually - who is trying to work out what to do with her very elderly campervan, with insurance and an MOT until next month, but no tax (subject to SORN).

I've spoken to DVLA today, who've confirmed that (although the vehicle could be driven to a pre-booked MOT test) the campervan can't be driven to a scrap yard about 6 miles away unless it's taxed. (Given that the maximum penalty for driving a vehicle subject to SORN on a public road is a £5000, plus a possible prison sentence, it seems unwise to 'risk it'!).

I won't waste your time with all of the options which I've explored (which won't apply to an uninsured vehicle without an MOT certificate). I'll simply provide you with a few figures:

The scrap yard currently guarantees a minimum payment of £110 for any vehicle which is taken into their yard. (2½ years ago they were only guaranteeing £50 but, when I put my saloon car onto their weighbridge, I got £60 for it). So, based upon weight, it seems likely that my friend's old Sherpa van (yes, it's THAT old!) would be worth, perhaps, £130-£150(???). When I phoned the scrap yard and explained that it might not be possible to drive the vehicle to them (even though that remains one of the possibilities which we're still exploring), they offered to collect it from my friend's home and to pay her £100 for it.
