PT cruiser smoking

I have a diesel pt cruiser. when i accelerate it smokes quite a bit........ a bit more than it should. Its ok when im at a steady speed it just smokes quite badly getting there. What could the problem be? Many thanks.

Replace the Injectors with new or Re/con, As you stand of now your car / van could be stopped by the police & booked for excessive black smoke.

from the information given you can start with mixing your fuel with an additive that cleans the fuel system.what ever product you find please read the instruction carefully. If your daily commute does not get the engine warm enough, you bound to get sot accumulation in your exhaust system.you can get rid of this by driving in a low gear ,so your engine rpm is higher than normal for plus/minus 10miles.

is it diesel ?..if so it could be something as simple as the airfilter, if it is diesel try removing the element and see what happens..common trick to get a vehicle through the emissions test on an MOT

a lot depends on the color of the smoke, without knowing this you can't even start a diagnosis of a diesel engine.,

Thanks for the answers so far. The smoke is a dirty whitish colour, certainly not black or blue anyway! if im going at a steady speed its ok but if I put my foot down to overtake etc its quite bad

Try the DIESEL TURBO PRESSURE REGULATOR or
DIESEL REGULATOR FILTER, you have 2 fitted one on right by air filter one on bulk head
