why does my car not stall?

my mate puts his citroen in first gear and takes his foot right off the clutch so he has no feet on the pedels but the car drives forward at about 10mph till u have to break.surely it should just stall?anybody know why?

Why should it stall, if it's a fairly light car on level ground then the engine will have enough torque to pull the car along at idle as long as you don't just drop the clutch.

I often crawl along in traffic by just letting my car pull its self along at idle.
the tick over is usually around 800rpm when warm, more than enough to move the car on level ground, even easier if its diesel
something to do with it being a french car and revolutions
