Midwifery isn't a medical degree......I was alluding to female DOCTORS.
your assuming all female/male docs have a family sqad

Surely the question should have been
"Is it worth training the children of billionaires when they may b**** off to work for dad?"...
Would you have said the same had it been about Branson's son???
.....this article has little to do with women and medicine.
It seemed a bit to me to be a bit 'sexist' too, but I didn't want to say anything just in case I upset sqad again.
=-(
Yes, it is worth training female doctors. There are many female doctors who juggle career with family, my sister did. Her family never suffered because whe worked around them. The children are now grown and away from home, and she is a Consultant Oncologist. But she didn't have a rich father with his own business, like most female doctors don't.

So females must keep training to be doctors, even if they take time off to have a family, they can always go back to work afterwards.
I agree marval - my aunt and uncle scrimped and saved to send my cousin to med school - she is now a surgeon - having served in Iraq aswell for the British Army.

The NHS is understaffed as it is....and there will always be those who for one reason or another decide that it is not right for them. I don't see the point of making distinctions based on gender.
May as well go back to ...pre 1860's...when it was a scandal to train women in anything other than how to be a good housekeeper.
I don't think she's indicative of women in general.

I don't see why not, I've not seen a roaring difference between the male and female Consultants where I work and I'd hate to see all those nannies made redundant.
Hi vibra. xx
I'm fine thanks. New home, new job, and having so much fun.
:-)
Of course it's 'worth' training female doctors. Not all female doctors go on to have children, many that do, manage perfectly well juggling motherhood and career. (And not all, if any, female doctors have millionaire entrepeneurs for a father.....)

I work with, and have worked with, many splendid able female doctors - 'worth' every penny invested in their medical training.
