I have an astra 07 energy with 205 55 17 bridgestone tyres which give a hard ride, is there any way I can soften the ride? maybe by fitting different tyres or wheels and still stay within the warrenty. grat car otherwise.

the ride is determined by the suspension, ie springs & bushes struts.
Changing wheels and tyre may make a slight difference but really not worth the hassle or money, changing tyre pressures is NOT the answer, start doing that and you will get uneven tyre wear and the danger that comes with it.
Struts, meaning shock absorbers

thanks for the advice, I rather suspected I would get that information, perhaps I should have bought another make of car, I recently drove a megane, this was alittle softer but not as good overall as the astra, which is great other than the ride over bumps, i did however have a new clutch and flywheel fitted under warrenty, suggest anyone having clutch judder should get it seen to asap, car is completely diffrent since, maybe when I wear out the tyres i will try michelins? thanks again

me again
I have just checked the manual, and as the tyres are 16 inch and not 17 as I thought, they should be 28, but checking the the pressures with my halfords tyre gauge??? they are as set by my dealer at its very recent service, 30.5 ,so i will let them down a bit and see what diffrence it makes, the manual suggests 35 if you want maximum fuel economy wow??
