Hi
I'm looking at a Mondeo in the local car shop an there is a Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX Y Reg in there with 153k on the clock. He said the car has a timing chain so it would be ok. He is asking 1150. What do you think?

Does a Mondeo 1.8 LX Y Reg have a cam belt or timing chain?

When would either of these have to be changed if they do?

Thanks Phil

There are a hell of a lot of cars out there with less mileage than that Placey, If the engine has done that mileage, so has the Clutch /Bearings etc, If it was me, I would Walk away.

cheers for the advice, Ive changed my mind on it . It does look a nice car but im not going to take the risk. Going to look at a Renault Megane 1.6 this morning so i'll keep this updated.

Thank again
the 1.8 is belt driven not chain, the 2.0 is chain driven.
