When braking at any speed in my Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.0 i experience a pulsing and juddering which is also felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal.
Is this a common fault with the Mondeo, is it an electrical fault with the ABS or mechanical?

Non ford discs and brake bits ... by any chance.

This has just started happening, i hav'nt had any work done on the car other than a tow bar fitted some months ago.
I only ask because that was the problem for us with a BMW
low speeds nothingtoo bad high speeds - oooeer missus ... does the car squeak, when you get in and out too? I kid you not these generic brakes have spring that was made out a material that gave them away to our mechanic immediately ... new brakes sound as a pound - cured the lot!
AS you had a tow bar fitted you are probably towing something, thats means extra weight.

your discs are probably warped due to over heating when braking, you will not be able to tell unless you use a dial meter on the discs.

New discs will cure the pulsing.

In fact i only used the car to tow once since, this problem seems to have just started to happen - which makes me wonder if it could be electrical?
Sounds like ABS operating when it doesn't need to.
could be that a caliper is sticking.
I had this problem on my BMW. Stripping the caliper down and cleaning it cured the problem, but be warned, it is not really an easy job. If you are not confident, do not do it yourself.
warped front discs.
