windscreen washer motor?

Hi i know its been cold but when i try to put on my washer for my front windscreen and back although the wiper arms are working okay there are no signs of the water motor making a noise hence no water.The temp has only went as high as 2-3 degrees in the last few days.Is it a case of just the cold weather or has my pump or something gone.The car is a 2 year old astra with 12000 mls on the clock.

The hose has come away from the scoosher bottle on my car because of the cold weather, you check that.

it might just be the water has frozen, you can't pump solid ice.

get some proper windscreen wash with antifreeze and put a load of that iin the washer bottle.

fuse blows on these when you try and use the washer pump when its frozen up...

Is this a common problem then with astra?Does this mean every time the weather goes cold then my fuse will blow?

not every time, just dont keep trying it when frozen, i have an 08 Astra van and have been caught out a couple of times..

...and to follow up ChuckFickens answer, don't put engine anti-freeze in your washer water.

The fuse may have blown because one or more of your wipers was frozen to the screen(s). This is to protect the motor(s) from overheating when they can`t actuate the wipers. first, while not freezing, give front & rear washers a good flushing through, a minute say. Then Top up the washer resevoir with high proportion of anti freeze SCREENWASH - not the anti freeze for the radiator which eats paintwork! Secondly, when you dei-ce the windows, manually free the rubbers from the screen(s). A little squirt of de-icer may assist on particularly cold mornings. Thirdly, buy yourself a screen frost deflector for the front.
