A wet weekend decision

I was all framed up for a weekend's sailing. When it came down to it I had two choices:-
a) Drown in the freezing grey solent in a force 6 gale & lashings of cold rain.
b) Drown in a vat of warm red wine with a hot chilli & lashings of sour cream.

I chose the latter. I chose well.
But by god I have a raging headache this morning, wish I'd pulled a sickie.
Sailing is for mad people.

where did you find a vat of warm red wine, ?
Question Author
I always keep one handy for emergencies.
I did the red wine thing without even considering sailing.

well done for making the sensible choice!
Oh, OK, abottle or two is acceptable, but a vat, aww c'mon,.
Question Author
oh ok, maybe a slight exaggeration. Not literally a vat, but it feels like it this morning. :-(
LOL< yes I know what you mean on both counts. IE bad head, and the madness of sailing,

Ted Heath once said, ( sailing is like sitting under a cold shower, throwing five pound notes out of the window, ) and that was over thirty years ago, so I guess you could say twenty pound notes nowadays,.
Question Author
Easily!!

But when the sun is shining, you're in the cockpit with a chilled glass of white, a boyfriend & a good book, the sea is sparkling & calm & there's no-one else in sight.... there's nothing quite like it.

I agree , there is nothing else quite like it, and I'm grateful for that, because if there was I would have tried it at some point in my life,

No for me it's a river cruiser, preferably on the Broads, but with the capability of being able to go out to sea simply for the possibility of entering another estuary somewhere,
You see i like to be able to walk through the stateroom to the galley without banging my head, cos when it feels like yours does this morning it's not good.
I also like blown air heating, and a nice hot shower,
Question Author
Hey - we have hot air heating and a hot shower. Even a proper flushing loo, double beds & fully equipped galley!

And guess who's the galley slave? But that's ok, cos this galley slave spends force 7+ gales and driving rain below deck (groaning & moaning probably, but at least dry).

I don't mean to be offensive salla but your user name suggests something not quite right, I E in cockpit with boyfriend ,no one else in sight, a glass of chilled white wine, that's O K but why the book ?

and why would you be in the galley in a force seven, when you deemed it unwise to sail this last weekend in a six,

And also the type of vessell you are describing to me now, suggests to me you a Millionair or very close to it,
so why go to work today,

OK tell me to mind my own business,. :-)
Question Author
So what's not quite right & what's that got to do with my username?

First of all it's a 36' sailing yacht - not mine I hasten to add - I wish it was, coz if it was I'd sell it to pay off my debts. I couldn't afford the dinghy that goes on the back of it.

No I didn;t go out in a force 6 this weekend - cos I have been out in a force 7 & higher before, and didn;t exactly like the experience.

Why the book? Err, cos I like reading & the BF is the skipper so does most of the navigating, piloting etc.

What are you suggesting Logic - this is all in my imagination?

I could tell you to mind your own business, but you are obviously interested enough to query what I'm saying, so ask away.

Hi Salla B.

Good choice.

J x
shurrup you ,you come from Brighton anyway, LOL.
Question Author
No - come on Logic, I'm not sure what you're getting at. I get the impression you think I'm lying. I don't like that. Why would I lie?
No salla I am not doubting anything, obviously we have not spoken much on here, otherwise you would know I love to be, er, slightly cantanckerous, sp, I do however love cruising and have done most of that on the Norfolk broads,
My cousin who is also a very close friend is the sailor, but I don't like rag power, especially on rivers, the tacking drives me mad, hence my prefference for cruisers. I also have a strong love for red wine, hence my home brewery,
No i wasn't quizing or taking the micky, I have cruised round the solent and the five rivers,
Love the solent ,prtsmouth, southampton, etc,
Bur Brighton's a bit iffy,
Any way must go and get some thing done, as much as I would like to sit here talking boats,
Have a good day.

pete.
B T W the shurrup, was meant for Jayne, who will probably confirm my unusual sense of humour.
get some housework done logic.....yer silly ol' goat.......lol.
:-)
Don't you start, Iv'e got enough on battling with these two,
And salla doubts my line of conversation,

It'll teach me to be a bit more subtle in the future.
Question Author
S'okay Logic - subtlety's not always a strength of mine either! All is cool ;-)
Phew, thank goodness for that,
I can now go about my day without thinking Iv'e offended somebody, must be away, now,

laters,

pete.

whoosh, gone.
