my 1993 bmw 316 i steering when wet occasionly gos really heavy and i have to really pull on the steering wheel to keep control any ideas

it could be that your power steering belt is slipping when water splashes on to it, you need to either get it retensioned or replaced
Hi, Tyres under pressure, Bottom balll joints letting in water causing the ball to get coroded, As said the belt, oil loss in Power Steering tank, Pump on the way out, Car out of track Eg, pulling to one side.
most of the reasons you listed (ball joints and tracking, tyres ect) would be there in the dry as well as the wet.

His problem is in wet conditions, would definately go with the power steering belt
