as far as i know it should be 60mph
60mph
Definitely 60 mph maximum at present. There was *talk* of reducing it to 50 mph a while ago, but that hasn't happened yet - does anyone know any more about that ?

Thanks for that everyone I was doing 50 or just over I can sleep tonight
Actually its 60mph for cars and motorbikes, 50 mph for cars/bikes/vans towing trailers, coaches and goods vehicles up to 7.5T GVW and 40mph for goods vehicles over 7.5T.
oh hell i hope they don't redue it to 50 mph. on some roads 60mph seems too slow!
Out of interest sddsddean what is the limit for cars towing caravans? I have come across a number of swaying vans being hauled by mighty 4X4s doing a good 70 - 80 mph.
Caravans count as a trailer, so its 50mph on a single carriageway. Heres a useful link. Scroll down to the table in para 123.
