citroen picasso 2.0hdi warning light

I have a year 2000 2.0hdi picasso, which yesterday a new light came on in the display. it is on the far right of the display and looks like a engine or gearbox with a big k in it. I have been told it may either be a warning for the cat or engine management, any ideas what it is, what causes it and what I have to do? thank you
