I want to get my partner a private reg for his birthday. His name is Dave, his friends call him Macca. I am unsure if to get a reg that reads MD07 DAV (he is MD of his company) or M900 CCA. I wanted M4 CCA but it is far too expensive, and M444 CCA is no longer available. Which looks the best? Or any other suggestions would be great!

That's not very friendly G4GS! In my opinion though, you pay a fortune for these regs, and nobody really looks at them and thinks, "that bloke must be an MD called Dave." It just looks like any old numberplate. I think people don't really 'get' them unless they're really obvious, and as you say, REALLY expensive! If you want something special, I'd say spend your money on something else...:o)
I really like personalised plates, they are a bit of fun and do nobody any harm G4GS !!

I would steer clear of the career - related one though, as if , for example,he was made redundant, then so would the plate.
He's always going to be Dave though isn't he ?
And don't forget that whatever number you get him, it can only be used on a vehicle of the same age or newer ( you mentioned an 07 one ) so if he has an older vehicle of which he is fond, you need to consider that.
Good luck and let us know what you pick x x
Ignore that pr@t, how about any of these?

although i'm sure you've seen them already, if i think of anything else i'll let you know! I personally like private plates, i have one with my name & i love it! I don't care what people think, i got it for myself.

G4G...Have you got a split personality or something.

You are a complete arseh0le in this user name but act all lovely and nice when using Dr Spock. Why is that?

Ummmm, how do you know that G4GS is also Dr.Spock ?
You've amazed me before on here by knowing these things but how do you get to find out ?
And who else is who else ?? x x
To make it look like a personal plate the car has to be pretty new..you probably already know that ;o)

As you have discovered, the most popular and workable ones have to be a two prefix..eg M4 CCA rather than M430 CCA.

Personally, I reckon if those are too expensive then I wouldn't bother.

I can just tell by what he says. Especially to me. He made a few comments that were exactly the same in both names.
Was it you that played that song?

It doesn't matter, no. Not to me anyway.

But it's not a fault that I have a good memory. Which seems to bother you.

But yea, you do play it well if my memory serves correctly.
Hihi, my views on personalised plates are on the same lines as G4GS's, but don't think I have to be rude, just because sombody has a different opinion.

In Germany they are very common, and not that expensive, but still I think it's waste of money.

A colleague of mine on has had a plate 'on hold for him' for several years.
He got a different (but similar) plate for a car that he thought would be temporary.

Now, years later, he is still driving this car, but has to check every three months, when his reservation runs out to make sure, that he renews it, before somebody else can get it.

Once, somebody else managed to reserve it after his reservation ran out, and for months, he was in a foul mood.
Then he managed to get it back...

This dedication is unbelievable to me!

But then, I always turn my car radio volume to an even number...

:o)

Sorry, to the original question: I am not sure, what the rules on English plates are...
I have seen H2O once, where the digit was a little smaller than the letters...

I'm sure that was illegal, but somehow cute!
