Hi. My dad is gonna sell his car. At the mo it is SORN, no MOT and not insured however it just start up and run.

He has a private plate which he wants to take off and put the original one back on before selling. He will be telling ppl that they will have to pick the car up and put it on a trailer to take away

Does anyone know if he can just swap the number plates back over with DVLA or will he have to tax, insure & MOT it first? Thanks for any replies.

Thanks for that. I had seen that but he doesn't want to just retain it he needs to take one off and put another on

Ok thanks. Think I am reading it right this time. He doesn't need mot or insurance providing there was no break between tax & sorn. He sent tax disc back do shouldn't be a problem
