hi, i my 2002 astra needs a new gearbox, my partners cousin is a mechanic and he has quoted me �700 to buy a new gearbox, fit the gearbox and do a cambelt and water pump change. sounds alright to me but just wondered what people thought??

Why dont you consider getting a gearbox from a good scrap yard,i would say if you get one off of another 2002 car with low mileage it should be a good one,just change the oil in the box.Cambelts can sometimes be awkward to do so if buying all new �700 is good
