Vauxhall Astra Mileage question

I am looking to buy a Vauxhall Astra (hatchback) probably 1.4 or 1.6. There seem to be some good deals out there but I notice that mileage on these cars is quite high. I can stretch to �2000 budget meaning I would be buying an Astra from 1999 - 2001. Should I take the plunge on a car that has over 100,000 miles on the clock? Is the Astra a good buy in the first place or should I be looking at other makes?
