I am not looking for sympathy, I know I have cocked up, however if any of you have any real advise then please post a response:

I have been caught doing an average of 100.26mph on the motorway (VASCAR). At the time the Officer told me the average was 6 points and a big fine. Everywhere else I read I will probably get banned. Any ideas? Is it worth the cost of a solicitor - if I get banned I am stuffed as I have no other way of getting to work....

in general, most courts will ban you for 28 days, and so they should, might give you a bit of time to think about how stupid it is to go that fast on a motorway.
It seems to depend on the court on the day,I know 2 different people who were doing a 102 and 103.One got 6points and a fine while the other has just got a seven week ban,a fine and 6 points !!!
In my opinion you will most probably get a short ban !
You should know better ,Dont get caught !!
i thought 100mph+ was an instant ban !!

we all speed now and again, but doin the ton isnt very clever in this day and age.
average speed, speed cameras and bobbies in plain cars.... put it down to experience...

not wanting to sound like some to$$er, but if you had hit another vehicle at the speed you were traveling, you and your victims would have only had one more journey to make... a slow one in the back of a big black car...

sorry chips, but you made your bed.... job or no job, you should have known better !
He did say he wasnt looking for sympathy and just advice on the question.

No one knows why he was speeding, it may have been for an emergency - if your loved was on there death bed then you would stick to the speed limit? Yeah right.
Under the guidelines which magistrates refer to, your speed was right on the borderline of a possible ban. For speeds up to 100mph, the recommendation is 4 to 5 penalty points and no ban. For speeds over 100mph (up to 1110mph), the recommendation is 6 points plus a ban of between 14 and 56 days. Additionally, the maximum fine for speeding on a motorway is 2500.

My guess is a 14 day ban, 6 points, 250 fine and 30 costs.

Thanks Chris - the web link was just what I was after. As I is thought there's no hard and fast rule - I will have to wait and see if the Magistrate is in a good mood on the day!

Cheers
Sorry to hear of your dilema.
Hope you come off not too badly.
Had to answer due to the amount of self-righteous critics scorning you for doing 100+mph, what a bunch of pc to##ers.
On a motorway in light traffic conditions 100mph is not unsafe and the safety and design of most modern cars enhance that.
Perhaps their own driving ability is poor and they lack confidence, so we all must drive accordingly!
Perhaps a few days driving on selected autobahns would call them to re-think their attitude to our ridiculous 70mph limit.
