Is it wise for someone well over 70 to change to an "automatic" after a lifetime of driving "manual" ?

Autos are great but can take some time getting used to it.
My sister wont get in mine she forgets and keeps using her left foot.
And pressing the brake with your left foot a no no
As long as you forget about your left leg your ok
The best way is too bend the leg behind the right at first anyway.
Won't take long to get used to,no matter what your age. But why, makes driving even more boring

"well over 70" ??? might be easier and more sensible to trade car keys in for a bus pass.

thank you, but this village does not have a bus service!
In N Yorkshire the 17 year olds seem intent on killing themselves and their passengers. Would you insure someone under 20?
Thank you everyone else for your suggestions.
Kind Regards,Bricro.
I see where you're coming from bricro but in my experience elderly drivers are more dangerous than the boy racers. Failing eyesight, reflexes and intellectual capacity do not mix well with traffic conditions on the roads today.
