how do i find out from old number plate how old the vehicle is, where it was made/registered and what model it is?

go on the rac website and do a check on the car on their vehicle status page,it will tell you all you need to know.

If you just want to know what year it is it is pretty simple.

P Reg 96/97
R Reg 97/98 etc

Though late on it did change to 6 month intervals I think
