Vauxhall Atra 1600 Club year 2000

I recently changed the oil and found a cylindrical shaped rubber bung looking plug on the ground after. It obviously did'nt come from the sump but seems to fit perfectly in a small whole under the oil filter - any ideas ?

Its just a blanking plug. The hole is used for a sensor when checking the engine.
