How do I tighten the handbrake on an L reg Ford Fiesta? Is it something I can do at home or will I have to take it to a garage? Thanks!

I have no idea how to do it, but you can do it at home. Research on the internet, learner cars have that problem all the time.
grovel about underneath is the simple answer.

theres a large knurled plastic knob on the cable, half way down the car, next to the exhaust.
normal wear should be taken up automatically, but if thats not working then the brake shoes may be worn out. that job requires a 30 mm socket and a LONG lever to undo the hub retaining nut.
maybe by now you are on the phone to your garage or tame mechanic??? LOL
