Unfortunately, after 26 years of careful (cough!) driving, I have just had my first sppeding ticket. 60 plus 3 points endorsement.

How long does endorsements last for, and how many (points) can you have until you are banned? Are they wiped when you've served your ban?

I always get speedindg mixed up with yellow/red cards in football!

for totting up purposes they last for 3 years (for speeding, longer for other offences) but they stay on your licence for 4 years. If you acrue 12 points you will be banned for at least 56 days, probably longer depending on the seriousness. The points are wiped out by a ban. If you are a new driver then you can only have up to 6 points for the first 2 years.
Just a couple of points of clarification. The minimum mandatory disqualification under the totting up rules is six months. New drivers who accumulate six or more points are not disqualified, but revert to provisonal licence status.
