sounds as if you have a faulty flasher unit - it will be located in your fuse box

Or one of the bulbs that side has blown (front, back or side repeater). This is a common way to show the 'bulb blown fault.

My indicator dash light goes 20 to the dozen when there is bulb off? I presume you hae took a walk round the car?

Most likely the flasher unit. They aren't expensive and are usually easy to replace. If a bulb goes, the remaining one flashes very rapidly.
