I own a 2004 ford fiesta finesse, and while driving it recently on a motorway it completely cut out while i was changing down from 5th to 4th gear .I managed to re start it immediately but noted that the steering and brakes were affected as they are linked to the engine.

I've since had the car completely checked and everything was found to be working perfectly with no mechanical or electrical faults.Ford are at a loss to explain what happened to the car.

What should I do now as I keep thinking that it could happen again . Thanks.

As you are aware the steering and brakes would be affected due to the power assistance on these, as for the cutting out have googled and it seems that a few reports on this and the same reply from the Ford dealers, other owners seem to have reported nothing wrong afer that, not as easy as it is for me to say but try not to worry too much the confidence will come back perhaps for a while keep to the inside lane on the motorways and keep an eye on things.Probably one of these computer blips.
