We have to keep opening and closing the door shut on our Zanussi washing machine to get it to work. It could be the child lock is sticking. Most of the time after opening and closing the door a few times it will start to work, but at the moment it will not. Has anyone got any ideas as to what it could be, and also how to repair it. Thanks.

I have a 14 month old Zanussi and sometimes when I've closed the door it doesn't start so I nudge it with my knee and then it's fine.
On washing machines that I have owned, there is a switch (and a timer on some) that is operated by the latch and is just behind the front panel. Bit of a ****** to get at though. If your machine dances about it may have dislodged one of the connecting wires. More likely the switch is faulty.
