You can bet your life there are; but whether any will see the light of day is another thing.

Every issue of Private Eye is full with details of wrong-doing by the government (both local and national), businesses and other organisations – yet very few garner wider publication.

Who would know anything about the corruption going on at the Teesside Freeport development without Private Eye’s investigative coverage?

And if you don’t believe me, take a watch of this BBC Newswatch programme (from yesterday), in which journalist Nick Wallis tells of 100s of similar scandals he is aware of.

[all well worth a watch, but if you want to cut to the chase, listen from 5 minutes in]

Corruption on a grand scale is alive and well in the UK.

It's a shame HIGNFY is currently off air.  I deserves a crow,

I appreciate (most) of Private Eye's investigative journalism but it depresses me that so little seems to get done to right the wrongs as a result.

After the Hamas terrorist attack on 7th October, didnt Private Eye run a piece defending the terrorist attack?

dunno - I don't read it now. Too depressing for me.

@07.50.And the next month their issue had a collection of puppies on the front cover to try to placate their non anti-semitic readers?

The Private Eye front page that caused so much controversy read:-

WARNING

This magazine may contain some criticism of the Israeli government and may suggest that killing everyone in Gaza as revenge for Hamas atrocities may not be a good long-term solution to the problems of the region.

The masthead also had ‘PRIVATE EYE FOR AN EYE’, and had inside a free bed bug with every issue!

Define "exposed". The Post Office scandal was all known, it just took a drama to move people and government to do things more quickly.

Maybe ITV should work on the contaminated blood scandal next. That's even worse than the post office one:

"worse" depending on whether you were personally affected by one or the other. (or both)

It's not a competition. I just meant worse in the number of dead children over decades, without redress ...
