....according to the DM yesterday. Maybe they think it will be a vote winner. On the face of it, it probably is. Those zones are a pain in the armpit. But they will only change their name from ULEZ to Charging Zone. The technology and infrastructure is already in place in most of London, so road usage is an untapped cashcow/goldmine.
And they aint gonna dismantle all of that are they? The motorist is definitely seen as a cashcow by all politicians. That on top of road tax, tax on fuel, tax on insurance, tax on MOT and servicing. Yous is gonna pay!

There's a difference between claiming to be considering something (before a GE) and actually changing policy. Besides the discussion is rarely about scrapping bad ideas, more often about thinking of maybe not expanding them further.
How many of you ABers are having to buy a new car if the Outer London rule comes in? When are the Courts going to decide?
I think this will cause Greater London to be all blue at the next GE if it goes ahead. KS knows this and cannot afford ULEZ to become politically dominant. He understands how fickle voters are when they stand in the booth and no matter what the polls say this could shaft him.
