Test drive a mini one, then test drive a cooper. You will buy the mini cooper! It's hard to understand how different these car's are until you have driven both. The ONLY thing that will stop you from buying the cooper is the price difference.

When the mini was first introduced Car magazine tested both models and their verdict was that, when you compared the prices of the two cars, the mini one was the better option, obviously its not as fast in a straight line, but its handling and ride quality was so well balanced and sweet that it compensated for that, and the advantages of the Cooper did not justify the extra expence.
sorry, meant to post the performance figures:- Mini Cooper, mph 125, 0-60 9.2 seconds, (so not exactly a rocket ship). Mini One, mph 115, 0-60 10.9.
The Cooper S is the one to go for, but that is seriously expensive!

well, im only 18, so money and insurance is what i have to consider unfortunatley

If that's all a foctor - buy a Skoda Fabia VRS! Less insurance - faster than the mini one (just slightly more expensive!) and the cooper - If you're not a badge snob - you'll have much more fun and change left in you're pocket - plus 50 MPG combined!

factor* oops!

Gard, at 18 I would have thought that insurance for you on a mini Cooper would be off the scale, as it is actually a BMW then you might find that a mini one is more than you can afford too. There are lots of fun performance cars to be had for more sensible money and insurance premiums that at you stage in your driving career would make more sence.
