My son has an A reg 1.1 fiesta, but it only has 4 gears.(he is a lad) I have been offered an engine and g/box from a mk2 1993 fiesta 1.1. This has a five speed box. Will the new engine fit into the old car, and what are the problems?
Thanks for your time.

no. the five speed gearbox is longer and will not go past the nearside chassis leg. this can be modified, but as it's part of the cars chassis, the welding job required has to be first class.
...be more cost effective to buy him another 2nd hand car
I agree with spaced - he has a car that trades at 25 to 50 - it is not worth spending lots of money on. It will not increase its value - it could lessen it - and will probably increase his insurance premiums too.
