My front windscreen wipers make a dragging noise when I put them on, as if the rubber is dry. How do I get rid of it? The car is only a year old, so they don't need replacing!

Hi if you get a good glass polish like Auto Glym glass polish. Or if you carnt be bothered windowlene works just as good.

Wash Car. Clean windscreen with polish. Then wipe the wiper blades with polish. Smooth as a babys bottom.

The recommended lifespan for a set of wiper blades is usually based upon the principle of 'replace every 6 months or 6000 miles, whichever comes first'. So, if the car's a year old, you should have just put it's third set of wiper blades on it. Given that you can buy a pair of wiper blades for about a fiver - try Wilkinsons - perhaps it's time to change them?

I agree with Buenchico, do not assume that because the car is only a year old they do not need replacing. If they have been working fine and suddenly start juddering its usually time for a new set.
I have just put a new set of Champion wipers on my car and they sound worse than the old ones. Have tried every cleaning method and can't seem to stop the noise. Have now bought a cheap pair in a one pound shop and am going to try them - betcha they work better. What a waste of money
