I think I was told kids under 14 were not allowed to travel in the front passenger seats unless there was no room or it was not practical for them to travel in the back. Is this so?

Not true. Its under 5yrs or 1.5 meters IF INPRACTICAL. the only law really is they must wear seat belts or child restraints or the driver will be fined. Over 14yrs its the passenger.
W-M should, of course, have written under 3yrs unless an appropriate child restraint is used.
Its a long time since I did my law degree!!!! Is drink driving against the law????
