Can anyone tell me what is involved in this process.

A jig is fitted onto the hub of the car, and the suspension lifted to make the centre of the hub equal the centre of the arch radius, then the jig is moved round the arch with a roller, and that slowly pushes out the little lip that is in the arch, thus creating a slightly wider gap for bigger tyres, or lowered suspension.

The other way we used to do it years ago involved a block of wood, big hammer, can of filler and a few cans of beer, but not in that order.
