An addition to my post of yesterday, See, everything old is new again: look at the "Goth" bra.

if only the prices would come back though :-)

Are these from your 'find' Stewey? x
no need to answer my question!
I've searched :-)
Question Author
Yes. The Simpson's flier from Sept, 1942.
It's like a treasure trove isn't it?!

I remember looking through an old trunk belonging to my parents, the newspapers made interesting reading.
The different language used etc.
Question Author
It's really interesting reading this old stuff, yes. I gave the papers two steam treatments, as you suggested, and what a difference it made! Next I have to get some parchment paper and iron them.
I'm really pleased my daft idea helped.

(I scare myself at times :-) )
the woman under that very fetching hat has a look of Bette Davis about her
Question Author
Now that you mention it, HS, yes.
Yo Sloopy xx

Gosh, you're right, there is a resemblance.

An oversize apron though on an uber-slim model is a bit strange :-)
Question Author
Could that be Mrs Miniver in the apron?
yo (albs)

stewey, are they English gloves as in made in, or is it the style? can't read the print from here
blooming heck, you and Sloopy are sleuths!

Who belongs to the legs in the stockings?
..dunno, but presumably a Gothic bra gives you flying buttresses
The slippers look just like the current in shoe brand 'irregular choice' (for those aware of that brand).
I've enlarged the image, Sloopy, it doesn't say,

Black or chamois with some fancy stitching.
The look rather nice though.
Question Author
It doesn't mention "English" at all in the small print. I doubt that during the war that the British were exporting gloves to Canada, so it probably means the style.
Question Author
Alba, those legs belong to Lisle, dontcha know?
Prudie, you are so right! That was my first thought when I looked at them.....I'd love a pair of slippers like that.
yes Prudie, and just found stewey's yesterday's post - I'd say Cath Kidston has nicked that look wholesale
''Could that be Mrs Miniver in the apron? ''

mrso surely
