I intend to trade in shortly for a new car. If i opt to pay more for alloys instead of standard steel wheels do i get a reduction for existing steel wheels on the new car or do i get to bring home the steel wheels.

I would imagine it is factored into the price of the alloys.
The new car price reflects the option that you have chosen...you do not get the steels to bring home!
It's cheaper to order the alloys with the new car than get them after you have taken delivery...and THEN decide you want them.
yowsers!! porkchop - hope you didn't ask the dealer that! -you are a salesman's dream!
