I thought that Citroen's have independent suspension and therefore no rear axle (it's front engined and front wheel drive so definitely no rear drive axle).

Do you mean a sub-frame, or doest it have semi-independent suspension with a joint fixed trailing arm type suspension?

As mdoo98 says, more info required.

The saxo has not got a rear drive axle as it's FWD, it does have a rear axle of sorts with 2 stub axles (one either side) the saxo doesn't have the normal citroen suspension, its just bog standard springs and dampers. The best way to find out if the axels are interchangeable is to phone the local scrap yard, tell them what you need and ask if the citroen axle will do, its highly probable as the running gear is the same as the Peugeot, though I am a little perplexed as to why you want to change the whole lot, there isn't much to go wrong on them except for bearings and brakes, much easier and cheaper to replace than the axle, unless of course you have bent yours?

i havent bent mine, but ive been told the bushes have gone, havent got my mate to have a proper look yet, but he reckons he can do it aslong as it dont involve special tools! my main reason for changing it was that the one ive been offered has already been lowered, and it has the four stud bolt pattern hubs on aswell, as my standard one has 3 stud hubs. i will ring scrappy tomorrow to see if it should fit! thanks very much
