Anyway my topic now

Waving bye bye/shut the door/manners!!!!

How do you all think of the above - do you say goodbye to your visitors in the living room and shut the front door, do you stand at the door and wave your visitors off.

TIA

I don't understand why it upsets you to shut the door, particularly if the other person doesn't care whether you wave or not. You sound very sensitive on this matter, but I don't understand why. You've said goodbye, they've gone, you shut the door....

Mostly I'd see them to the front door and say goodbye then. I wouldn't necessarily wave them off, depends who it is and why they were visiting.
I'd go to their car and wave from the gate.
I always wait until they have driven/ away .
Who is lucky enough to get visitors?
if we have visitors who arrive in a car, we normally always stand by the car for the last chat before they drive off.
We never close the door before the car leaves out of sight and out of view.
It takes our family ages to say goodbye! lol
If visitors leave without a car, we wave them off till they turn the corner out of our drive then shut the door.

Am musing the various answers cos I have many issues re this.
If it's close family I wave the car off. if it's friends it's bye at the door. I don't wave the tradesmen off though.
Depends on the weather - if it's warm/fine then go to the car, ptherwise bye at front door.
I go to the car, say goodbyes, then come back to the gate and wave them away.
*otherwise*
so what are your issues, conne?
Usually bye bye before they get in
My visitors have just left, kissed them in the living room before they put on their crash helmets, went to the door and waved them off as they drove away.
I go to the door, if only to make sure the dogs don't get out:-\

My issues - no matter kith or kin/manners - you should always wave goodbye to your visitors until you no longer see them. Unfortunately it doesn't work both ways.
Go to the door with them, kiss goodbye & wait till they get in the car before closing the door.

Weecalf - re-read - then got a laugh LOL.
If you live in a long road you could stand there for hours - that's just not practical. My brother-in-law came round earlier - we said goodbye at the door, then I shut the door as he got in his car and drove off. I can't see why it matters.

If it's someone I haven't seen for ages and really care for, then yes, I would go out and wave the car off - it really depends on the circumstances. Thre's no set etiquette about it.
I sometimes shout 'Sling your hook and don't come back ' just to entertain the neighbours.

I have tried to say byebye/shut door before visitor gets into car/taxi - but can't do it. It kills me and it kills me over again that this person/persons doesn't give a sh t whether I say goodbye or not cos this person doesn't givea glance when they are saying goodbye to me - errrr does that make sense!!!
