I thought it was a straight forward job but on each attempt the plastic lug breaks off when put to the wheel. The size was right 13" according to my tyre size. Also the metal ring that fits inside has a section of about 1" long...what way round is this supposed to fit. I assume its to do with the valve.

Haven't had these things for years - but are they really universal? Don't they have to match the wheel in some way?

Thanks to potholes I've lost 2 in the past month. I hate to think what damage has been done to my suspension.
I think wheel trims should fit provided they are the right size for the wheel, they're pretty universal.

The metal ring should be fitted on the outside of the plastic lugs and the section that's a "V" or other shape is designed to fit round the valve. I think on mine the point of the "V" goes to the outside of the trim. You may find one hole in the wheel trim a slightly different shape to accommodate the valve.
if you mean they have fallen off then cable tie them in place,
dont buy cheap trims.

The new ones don't even fir even though they are the right size for the wheel. A lug just breaks off under force when trying to fit. I'm putting it down to cheap make and was never designed for the job as the old ones were OK.
sounds like cheapo trims..
