I think football should go back to the old system for offside!
Too many people dont understand the two phase system where you can be offside in the first phase and a player in your team can score a goal and it counts:Yet you can score a goal in the second phase, be onside, but the goal doesn't count becouse you were offside in the first phase!...still with me! I dont have a problem with the rule but it is hard for referee's and open to different interpretation! The old rule, if you were in front of the last defender apart from the keeper when the ball was kicked, you were offside...simple! What do you think?

Well you've certainly got me confused, Wimp!

I refereed amateur football for many years but, since it was a long time ago (and I don't follow the professional game), I thought that I'd better check the rules. Nothing has changed at all!

Chatterbank is open to all, Dot!

After all, some people might think that posts about Garth Brooks are very specialised but we don't insist that they only appear in 'Music' ;-)
