We use either slightly diluted vinegar or meths to cut through the grime and then buff up with scrunched up newspapers.

I agree with alba, vinegar in water works wonders! Also, 2 tbs bicarb down a sink followed with half a bottle of white vinegar clears drains. No need for overly-priced Mr Muscle!

Cheers, albaqwerty. I'll give it a go.
You're welcome Silver. Are there smokers in your car? You might have to do it 2 or 3 times to get rid of the sticky nicotine.
I use the wipes you buy from the garage.
I need to do one or the other, I keep forgetting :-(
I need to do mine too, but hate the twisting and stretching. One of my least favourite jobs. But when I do it I use a microcloth for window cleaning.

Dampen any window or glass with water and give it a rub if its very dirty. Then dry off and buff up with the microcloth. Its very effective and so easy I have no excuse not to do it!
Use RainX interior glass cleaner, very quick perfect finish instead of the old wife remedies.
Have used methylated spirit for years. Cheap, long lasting, efficient and easy on the elbow.
