Hi there, as you may know my beloved zeb is my life!! Vitara jls 17 years old today started playing up, once the auto clutch turns off she seems to lose power and judders as if she is going to cut out.

When I am driving she seems sluggish and takes ages to 'pick up' its worse when changing gear I really have to put my foot down to pull off and get those revs up!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Much appreciated.

Thats what I mean, when you put the car in gear and you release the clutch does the car rev as you push down on the accelerator pedal but is slow pulling away. ie the speed does not match the revs ?

Is the engine revving but the car not accelerating ?.
yep if you have some spanners.....I would possibly consider changing all four so that they are consistent...

She sounds grumpy and noisy!!
Question Author
No the speed doesn't match the revs
Then it does sound as though the clutch is slipping, if so then it will need a new clutch.

Mmmm that's what I thought - garage time arghggh any ideas on the cost of a clutch?
Couldn't say fgt, depends on make and model. If I were you I would get a few quotes though.

New Clutch.
17 years old?

I doubt if it is worth paying a lot to keep her going.
To add, use a local family run garage, get a written quote, & for your sake do not use K.F. otherwise they might advise you, you need a new engine.
