I'm far too old for this but here it is:
I have just bought my first *slightly fast* car and am feeling the urge to tart it up a bit. It's a 2000 Ford Puma (1.7i) fairly high milage but FSH and has been well looked after. The clutch needs doing and there is a clunk from the back which I assume is worn suspension bushes, so I'll deal with those first.
I do find myself hoofing it a bit when conditions allow and would love to know if there are a few tweaks I could do to get the best out of it.
Things I have found so far: replace the coils with Eibachs to lower it a bit and improve cornering, get a re-mapper, 4-2-1 stainless steel exhaust and possibly change the cams for FRP ones.
Any thoughts ?

All those things. And some furry dice.
I'm sorry, Zacs style advice is so last month. The absolute essentials are to fix lights underneath the chassis, install a television on the dashboard, get a sound system that rattles the neighbours windows and have ultra black-out tint on the windows.
You forgot the Nurburg ring sticker Mosaic.
Don't forget the usual drain pipe size exhaust ( so that it sounds as if it has an engine even though it hasn't ). LOL
Ford Puma Hat/Shades/coat etc.
It would be better to get something like a Mondeo ST and have the power there in the first place than having to sport up a car and then declare all the mods on the insurance.

Nice one bruvs - some bear good responses there innit. Sorted !
I had a brand new Puma in 1999, I loved that car :(

Why the sad face ? You didn't prang it did you ? I know they're quite succeptable to prangage.
I have to admit, this is the first car I've owned that makes me smile - specially round roundabouts ..Weeeeeee !
It's basically a Fiesta in different clothing, isn't it?
Yes, twice! It didn't half crumple easily. The sad face is because I now drive a ginormous car and I miss my lovely Puma (but not as much as I miss my turbo Golf), but you can't get five kids in either. Enjoy your car (I hope it's not one of the yellow 2000 one's though).

Oh dear - that's one thing that makes me slightly apprehensive, the Puma was nerver NCAP tested afaik but my one has driver and passenger airbags.
No it's not the custard yellow one (that looks even more like an alien to me) it's metallic dark green.
Yes Hopkirk, it's a souped-up Fiesta in a pretty frock !

It may well be a souped-up Fiesta but they are lovely. I loved mine (and especially the remote boot unlocking thing). I've since had a conked out Fiesta and I know which one I would prefer.

Thanks for posting that Snags - that's a blast from the past ! Quite nicely dilutes the vague whiff of contempt I detected from some of the earlier replies :-)
Buy a bicycle.
''vague whiff''

Vague? You must have a cold ;-p
Question Author
Yes indeed, my fob had already packed up before I got it so I have to press the tit to get into the boot. It's probably too expensive to be worth getting it fixed so I'm happy to just use the keys conventionally.

I already have one Daisy :-)
