depends if you drive a Smart car or a Bentley!

If you know how many miles you get from a tank and how much it costs you to fill up can't you work it out from that?

I use 15p per mile, but I drive a diesel.
I have a puegot (sp?) 206... It currently costs me £60 to fill the tank and that does 400 miles....
How much do you normally spend a week on petrol and how many miles a week do you drive? You can use these figures to give a good guide as to your average cost per mile
At 40mpg, a bit over £30
Hi joko,

Such a lot of 'what's' before ballpark can be worked out......automatic or manual?.....diesel or petrol?.....engine size?..MPG .etc....

but i have worked this out on a Honda Civic, as you said a small car....but you also mention small van.....so

The Honda Civic R type ( top of the range ) has a fuel capacity of 50 litres. The car does about 26 miles per gallon (50 litres=13 gallons). So, expect around 338 miles. Therefore a litre is 132.9 here roughly...cheaper at Asda's though and about 136 for diesel......

£1.33 x 50 = £66.50.....based on that.......you would need approx £40 but take into consideration the in-town and out of town motorway run........i would say your ballpark could be in the £35-£55 bracket if more than a 1.4 or 1.6......if smaller engine than that........happy days.

If you borrow crafty's smart car it'll be about £12.50.....lol

and safe journey :0)

thanks all

its a one off trip in a small hired van or car, probably on the motorway
just trying to work out a ball park figure to see if its affordable
No worries, Joko..........

How you getting back?........helicopter?.....lol

Obviously if you avoid rush hour traffic at peak times.....easier run up and back down.....thats what i try and do on long journeys.....been stuck on the piggin' M25 ( Britain's largest car park! ) too often in the past.

Have a good trip up to the pool, J :0)

its actually for someone coming to liverpool, bringing stuff, im already here.

so we double it for her to go home, and add hire charges...looking to be around £250-300

thanks again
You could do the return trip in an articulated lorry for £250-300..!
