i bought car on 14/10/2010 i paid £2080 in cash to a dealer, on 22/10/2010 i paid £239 for full service at local garage, on december 12th belt snapped. garage want £800/£1000 to repair it, do i have claim for repair to seller garage or ford who reccommend belt is changed after 100.000 miles or ten years...cheers

You don't state how many miles it's done but I assume it's under 100k (?). I don't think you have any comeback on the garage, It's up to you to ask them to change the (cam)belt however, you should have received a minimum 3 months warranty from the Ford dealers - try it on with them - you've nothing to loose.
But the Ford dealer is likely to reject the claim.
They will say "what Ford dealer replaced the belt?" .. and it wasn't, was it?
If the local garage owned up to fiddling with/altering adjustment/overtightening tensioner .. or NOT replacing idler/tensioner wheel as a set .. you may get some recompense from them.
