I did, It could still be damaged even on the driveway. Maybe shop around for a cheap basic insurence.
If you've only got third party insurance, there's no point.

If you've got third party, fire & theft cover you'll have to consider what the chances are of it being stolen or torched, how much you'd lose if it happened and how much you'd get paid out after the excess on the policy. For a car like mine, bought two years ago for 350, parked in a low-crime area, it would probably be pointless to insure it. If it was a Ferrari parked in Peckham it would be essential to insure it!

Similar considerations apply to comprehensive insurance.

most of the time you can suspend your policy in full or for fire and theft only - this excludes road cover and allows your vehicle to be declared sorn and still keeps your policy in force and your no claim bonus running, also if you renew with the existing Insurer they should give you a rebate providing its been off cover for a minimum of 4 weeks or more, this is not a guarantee but most of the good insurance companies do this - not so sure about the direct companies.
I think you have to have your car in a locked garage if you want to suspend cover but keep the Fire and Theft element. SOme of the cheaper insurers wont suspend cover at all the admin costs too much
