bmw x5 brake warning light

My dad has a BMW X5 4.4 automatic. The brake warning light came on, on the dash board. so he got the pads changed but the light is still on. does any one know how to get rid of it?

My girlfried has a Y reg Corsa and the inspection light came on does anyone know how to get rid of that too?

the wear indicator should have been replaced with the pads. replace this and the light should go out itself.
the service light on the corsa is reset as follows
switch ignition off, hold in the button below the mileage display, switch ignition on and after a few seconds the light will go out.
