i have a 5 door 2004 vauxhall astra Design. i parked the car. went shopping. when i came back to the car an hour later all the electric windows were open. all at the same level of opening! i definately didn't leave them open and i have tried to see if i could have lent on the controls but its impossible to open all 4 without realising it. any ideas? i was parked to an older vauxhall astra which had left the car park when i finally finished shopping.

The answer maybe in your key fob.

Go to your car and press the open doors button and hold it down for about a minute. All your windows may open at the same time. If you hold the lock button down - all the windows should go back up and the doors lock.

It's likely you put your key in your pocket and was unwittingly pressing the button as you walked away. When you went out of range the windows stopped.

Try it and see if it works.
I dont know if its the same thing but i have a passat and when i first bought it this used to happen to me and i couldnt understand it but ive sinced learned that when locking it if i turn the key and keep it turned a wee bit too long before taking the key out all the windows go down and it does the same if i lock it when the windows are down they go up lol does that make any sense
I have had a vectra wind all its windows down on its own. So it is possible.
